Site Engineer - HV

As part of the “Our Water Our Future: The Next Stage” of the Government’s Water Plan, the Victorian Government has developed a desalination plant near Wonthaggi to produce drinking water from seawater. The Victorian Desalination Project will deliver one of the largest reverse-osmosis desalination plants in the world, capable of supplying up to 150 billion litres of water a year - more than a third of Melbourne’s annual water needs and ensuring drinking water is available even in times of drought. An opportunity now exists for a Site Engineer (HV/HV Cable) to join the Thiess Degremont Nacap team on the Victorian Desalination Project

You will be a key part of the team responsible for the Construction of the 84km underground HV Power cable and associated Sub-Stations and Switchyards being constructed from Wonthaggi to Cranbourne.

We currently have an opportunity for suitably experienced Electrical (HV) Site Engineer to join this landmark project. You will have the chance to work as part of an expert team at an early stage of the project and develop your career with one of Australia’s leading construction JV’s.

To deliver in this position, you will need to have a minimum of 3 years experience in Electrical/HV disciplines and projects ideally with UG cable and at 220KV.

You will be expected to work typical project hours, six days a week in this challenging position and be willing to relocate/be based from Pakenham. The project is being completed to a very compressed schedule so this role will require full commitment and determination.  Relevant tertiary qualifications are required.

Essentially you will have significant experience with managing sub-contracts, commercial exposure, development of WP’s and a total appreciation for OHSE issues preferably on HV intense projects such as industrial plant or water treatment plants.
